Eliurpi

This brand deserves its own special post. I’ve been following them on Instagram for a while, and I always said that the next time I visited Barcelona, I would buy one of their hats. Suddenly, a work event brought me to the city earlier than expected. I still made sure to book an appointment to visit their store, which is in one of the most beautiful parts of Barcelona.

I must admit, I felt a bit nervous going there. I had a full week of shopping planned since Casper was away most of the time at the congress. I promised myself that if I really fell in love with a hat, I would buy it, but they are not inexpensive. The combination of this and booking an appointment via email made the visit feel extra special.

As soon as I walked in, I realised my worries were unnecessary. The owners are the most passionate and friendly people, and they were honoured to show me their work. It was a wonderful experience, and I’m so glad I made the effort to visit their store.

Eliurpi was founded in 2010 by designer Elisabet Urpí Ràfols and photographer Nacho Umpiérrez Fripp. Both in their work and personal lives, they form a dynamic creative duo. Together, under the name Eliurpi, they create and present beautiful objects and hats.

When I visited their store, I met both Elisabet and Nacho. They took their time to show me around their studio. Some of the hats are made to be worn, while others are purely for decoration. I once saw a photo on their Instagram of a hat displayed above a fireplace. Ever since, I’ve dreamed of having this piece in my own home. They told me that specific design was custom-made, but the original version is available for sale on their website in different sizes.

With their signature style kept, their collection continues to grow. It’s impressive to see how they design a variety of items that still fit perfectly with their brand image. For example, they now have stools and even a combination with a coffee table. They also create beautiful vases and bags that are equally stunning. My new favorite might be their lighting collection. It blends so easily and naturally with their other pieces, yet it is incredibly well-made.

Among their unique creations are see-through hats. They custom-made one for a client to use on the windowsill as a screen. It lets light come in nicely while also giving some privacy. It’s amazing to see how their designs can be both artistic and functional.

I didn’t buy anything during this visit, but their items definitely stayed on my wish list. They have a wide selection on their website, and you can always contact them if you need something custom-made.
