I took these photos on the 9th of January. It wasn’t really snowing or raining, but it was one of those slightly darker winter days. I think these photos show that even on a day like this, you can get beautiful results. Winter light has something special, almost magical.
Lately, my interior style has changed, and I’ve been adding more colour to my home. I love a mix of natural tones with a few colourful accents. This red footstool from the Swedish brand Svenskt Tenn really brightens up the room. In the hallway, there’s a clever solution for hiding the heater, it’s been turned into a stylish and practical cabinet. For Christmas, I got the book Every Room Should Sing by Beata Heuman, who designed a similar piece. I loved it! Perhaps the resident, whom I haven’t met, found inspiration in the same book.
One small challenge was capturing a nice close-up of the door on the back wall of the living room. In the wider shot, the bathroom light switches were visible. It wasn’t the most attractive detail. Instead of editing them out, I played with different perspectives. I took one photo from the other side of the door and two mirror shots where the flowers subtly hide the switches. Of course, I could remove them in Photoshop in a minute, but that wouldn’t feel real. I enjoy finding creative ways to hide less attractive details without digital edits.
