About a year ago, I photographed this apartment in its original one-room layout. Since then, the new owner has turned it into a two-room apartment with a more practical layout. The old kitchen is now a bedroom, and the built-in wardrobe is now part of the bathroom, which creates more space. The ceiling from the hallway now continues at full height, which makes the apartment feel more open. This is one of the most common changes in Stockholm. If you have a separate kitchen, it is still seen as a one-room apartment, but if that space is used as a bedroom, it becomes a two-room apartment. Even though the size stays the same, the apartment often becomes more valuable, and many people prefer having a separate bedroom over a separate kitchen.
