The day before I got the message, you have to photograph Torsplan 8 in Stockholm. You probably know the building said my colleague, it's one of the most famous architecture designed buildings in town. After a quick internet search I directly knew where I had to go. The building is high, outstanding and newly built.
Een dag van tevoren kreeg ik het bericht dat ik Torsplan 8 in Stockholm moest fotograferen. Je kent het gebouw waarschijnlijk wel zei mijn collega, het is één van de beroemdste architectonisch ontworpen gebouwen in de stad. Na een snelle zoektocht op internet wist ik direct waar ik heen moest. Het gebouw is hoog, opvallend en recentelijk gebouwd.
The entrance was already amazing. I was a bit early so I went inside to wait downstairs and get my first impressions. Something which was very remarkable for me was the nice lounge music in the background. Beside that both the building and the design of the entrance are already breath-taking if you ask me. The sunlight came in beautifully and my expectations for the apartment grew.
De entree was al geweldig. Ik was aan de vroege kant en ging alvast naar binnen om beneden te wachten en mijn eerste indruk op te doen. Iets wat me direct opviel was de lounge muziek op de achtergrond. Daarnaast zijn zowel het gebouw als het ontwerp van de ingang al indrukwekkend als je het mij vraagt. Het zonlicht kwam prachtig binnen en mijn verwachtingen voor het appartement namen toe.
I had to go to the 25th floor, so a nice view was a certainty. If I am honest with you I would not choose this apartment myself if I had the possibility (read enough money) to buy it, but it certainly is impressive apartment to live in. If you come inside this living room is almost the first thing that you see. It’s 78 square meters and from each point you have a beautiful view.
Ik moest naar de 25e verdieping, dus gegarandeerd een mooi uitzicht. Als ik eerlijk ben zou ik dit appartement zelf niet kiezen als ik er de mogelijkheid (lees genoeg geld) voor had, maar het is zeker een indrukwekkend appartement om in te wonen. Als je binnenkomt is de woonkamer bijna het eerste wat je ziet. Het is 78 vierkante meter en vanuit elk punt heb je een prachtig uitzicht.
Let’s start with this view. This is from the living room if you’re sitting on the sofa. While I was editing these photos I suddenly saw a difference in my photos, I am wondering if you noticed too? I have no idea when it happened, but at two of the three photos the vase at the windowsill was empty and at this view photo there are red roses. At the moment that I made the photo I didn’t notice the difference, but afterwards I blamed myself so much for not noticing. Often I start with the overview photos using my tripod and in the end I want to be a bit more creative and free without tripod. So there was some time in between these shots, but I am still confused. The residents have been waiting outside the entire time as far as I know.
Laten we beginnen met dit uitzicht. Dit is vanuit de woonkamer als je op de bank zit. Terwijl ik deze foto's aan het bewerken was zag ik plotseling een verschil in mijn foto's, ik ben benieuwd of het je ook is opgevallen? Ik heb geen idee wanneer het gebeurde, maar op twee van de drie foto's was de vaas op de vensterbank leeg en op deze uitzicht foto staan er rode rozen. Op het moment dat ik de foto maakte was het verschil me nog niet opgevallen, maar achteraf nam ik het mezelf zo kwalijk dat ik het niet had opgemerkt. Vaak begin ik met overzichtsfoto's met mijn statief en uiteindelijk wil ik wat creatiever en vrijer zijn zonder statief. Er zat dus wat tijd tussen deze opnamen, maar ik ben nog steeds in de war waar de bloemen vandaan komen. De bewoners hebben de hele tijd buiten staan wachten zover ik weet.
These two photos give you a better impression of the rest of the place. The table is placed in the middle between the balcony and the kitchen. Lately I see a lot of kitchens with high cabinets. At home I have something similar as they have in this apartment and I would really recommend it. A couple of years ago I was on team shelves. Nice and open to display accessories. I like to know what’s going on in the world of interiors and the current trends, but I get the idea that both options are popular. If you are faced with the choice, my advice would be to go with the cabinets. If you let them run all the way to the ceiling, you create extra storage space and a calm place. Make sure that the cupboards are not too deep so they are not in the way when you are cooking.
Deze twee foto's geven een betere indruk van de rest van het huis. De tafel staat in het midden tussen het balkon en de keuken. De laatste tijd zie ik veel keukens met hoge kasten. Thuis heb ik iets soortgelijks als ze in dit appartement hebben en ik zou het echt aanraden. Een paar jaar geleden was ik team planken boven het aanrecht. Lekker open om accessoires op uit te stallen. Ik vind het leuk om op de hoogte te zijn van de interieur wereld en wat de huidige trends zijn, maar ik heb het idee dat beide opties populair zijn. Als je voor de keuze staat, zou mijn advies zijn om voor de kasten te gaan. Als je ze helemaal tot aan het plafond laat doorlopen, creëer je extra opbergruimte en een rustig geheel. Zorg er wel voor dat de kasten niet te diep zijn, zodat ze niet in de weg zitten als je aan het koken bent.
To be honest I was a bit surprised that the glass wall only comes half way. I was standing in the corner with my tripod which came above the glass wall and suddenly I felt a bit scared to move. I retracted my tripod completely and slowly came out the corner, in the end I not even used the photo from that angle. I am not sure about all the other apartments, but I believe that each balcony has no view of neighbors. That’s a really nice way of building since balconies often border each other. If it is not too close to the edge, I can certainly see myself sitting here with a nice drink.
Om eerlijk te zijn was ik een beetje verbaasd dat de glazen wand maar tot de helft komt. Ik stond in de hoek met mijn statief dat boven de glazen wand kwam en plotseling voelde ik me bang om te bewegen. Ik trok mijn statief helemaal in en kwam langzaam uit de hoek, uiteindelijk heb ik de foto vanuit die hoek niet eens gebruikt. Ik ben niet zeker van alle andere appartementen, maar ik geloof dat elk balkon geen zicht heeft op de buren. Dat is een hele mooie manier van bouwen aangezien balkons vaak aan elkaar grenzen. Als het niet te dicht bij de rand is, zie ik mezelf hier zeker zitten met een lekker drankje.
The kitchen was very photogenic and I love the combination of the materials. At home I have not so much to say about the kitchen, since I am not the one who is using it. Luckily our styles are pretty close to each other. After several rented houses we really got a feeling of what we like and what we definitely don’t want to have by the time we get to choose for ourselves. What about you, do you make notes with inspiration too for your next house? We can’t complain about our current apartment, but I can’t wait to actually buy something and get everything done the way we want.
De keuken was erg fotogeniek en ik hou van de combinatie van de materialen. Thuis heb ik niet zo veel te zeggen over de keuken, aangezien ik niet degene ben die hem gebruikt. Gelukkig liggen onze stijlen vrij dicht bij elkaar. Na een aantal huurhuizen hebben we echt een gevoel gekregen van wat we mooi vinden en wat we zeker niet willen hebben tegen de tijd dat we zelf mogen kiezen. Hoe zit het met jou, maak jij ook aantekeningen met inspiratie voor je volgende huis? We mogen niet klagen over ons huidige appartement, maar ik kan niet wachten om echt iets te kopen en alles te laten doen zoals we willen.
Bedroom number one. Up to the left and up to the right the view is really beautiful. Maybe they have a bit of bad luck that the only other high building is across from the bedroom. Imagine going to bed in the evening, keep your curtains open and see all the lights in the city.
Slaapkamer nummer één. Aan de linker- en rechterkant is het uitzicht echt prachtig. Misschien hebben ze een beetje pech dat het enige andere hoge gebouw tegenover de slaapkamer staat. Stel je voor dat je 's avonds naar bed gaat, je gordijnen openhoudt en alle lichtjes in de stad ziet.
Bedroom number two has a beautiful balcony. Although it is smaller I might create this into the master bedroom. As I said with the other one you will close the curtains sooner since you have neighbours. In this room you can enjoy the evening sky without the feeling that people can see you. It was not planned that I had to make all the photos, I actually only needed to make the view photos. At the moment I was there we decided to get everything done directly. This room was not as cleaned up as it looks on the photo and the residents did an amazing job in a very short time.
Slaapkamer nummer twee heeft een prachtig balkon. Hoewel het kleiner is zou ik hiervan misschien de slaapkamer maken voor mijzelf. Zoals ik al zei bij de andere zal je eerder de gordijnen sluiten omdat je buren hebt. In deze kamer kun je genieten van de avondlucht zonder het gevoel te hebben dat mensen je kunnen zien. Het was niet de bedoeling dat ik alle foto's moest maken, ik hoefde eigenlijk alleen de uitzicht foto's te maken. Op het moment dat ik er was besloten we om alles direct te doen. Deze kamer was niet zo opgeruimd als het op de foto lijkt en de bewoners hebben in zeer korte tijd een geweldige klus geklaard.
Last but not least the bathroom. In the Netherlands it always was the bigger the better, but I really think that the Swedish apartments showed me that it does not have to be big to be nice. It’s more about the way how it is set up and how it is decorated with materials and accessories. Their eye for minimalism and design is true, they are so good at it.
Last but not least de badkamer. In Nederland was het altijd hoe groter hoe beter, maar ik denk echt dat de Zweedse appartementen me hebben laten zien dat het niet groot hoeft te zijn om mooi te zijn. Het gaat meer om de manier waarop het is ingericht en hoe het is aangekleed met materialen en accessoires. Hun oog voor minimalisme en design is echt waar, ze zijn er zo goed in.
