You see it often enough, those total home renovations. This was a dated apartment that had been lived in for years. The organization behind the rental has completely renovated this apartment to see if they can develop a new concept and eventually give all their homes a make over. I was asked to take both the before and after photos. As you can probably see the first photo is before, the second is after.
Living room / Woonkamer
When taking the photos after the renovation, I tried to use the same viewpoint as the first time as much as possible. That way, you can really see all the changes. I had saved all the photos on my phone and walked around with it during the photoshoot to photograph everything as well as possible.
Balcony / Balkon
The windows had not yet been cleaned after the renovation and looked quite dirty. Now I have to say that the amount of rain that day was not favorable for the windows either. That's why they were slid open completely during the second photo shoot.
I only took a view photo during the first shoot, but you can already see a bit of how nature has changed in the photos from the balcony. For the first photo shoot, I was there in the middle of August and for the second one at the beginning of November. The green of the trees is now brown and bare.
Kitchen / Keuken
This is the most striking improvement of the whole house as far as I am concerned. The person in charge of the project told me that he always tries to create a house in such a way that he could live there himself. Just for the idea, the rest of the building is still in the state of the non-renovated photos and it is four gigantic apartment blocks behind each other that don't create the most charming atmosphere. Creating something out of this space that still looks inviting and perhaps makes you forget the rest was quite a challenge.
Although the assignment was to take exactly the same photos as the first time, I thought it would be fun to show some details from the renovation. I quickly think of materials, such as the kitchen worktop and, later in the series, the new floor. The project manager also really wanted to see the spotlights in the kitchen and the radiator knob. Apparently, this is really the thing for professionals to see after a renovation. Previously, the knobs had been colored yellow and this one is really great and photogenic as far as he is concerned.
What I also noticed about the renovation is that this (refrigerator) cabinet in the corner of the kitchen sticks out a lot less than in the first picture. Before the renovation, there was also a cupboard in the corridor on the other side of this wall, which has now been removed. This has now been removed, making it a lot less spacey in total and thus creating extra room in the kitchen.
Above a detail of the kitchen cabinet to show that the handle is nicely 'folded' around the top of the door. Below a photo of the new floor and skirting boards.
The corridor / De gang
As I already wrote about the kitchen, you can see in the top photo that the cupboards on the right-hand side have been removed. On the left-hand side, the cupboards have been replaced by sliding doors instead of the original ones. To be quite honest, I think this is a bit of a shame since I just like the original cabinets better. You see this type of built-in cupboards much more often in Stockholm and I would have chosen to refurbish them and keep them.
Bedroom / Slaapkamer
In the bedroom, the main difference is in the walls. Where originally a self-made work of art had been created, everything is now white. The brick motif was wallpaper, but the blocks in black and white were hand-drawn. On the wall next to the door, a landscape was painted and now a cupboard has been put there.
Bathroom / Badkamer
As I wrote earlier, the building itself is not a charming place. There will be a lot of people living there and, like in most buildings, you will share a laundry room with each other. With this new concept, a washing machine has been placed in the bathroom so that you can run your household from home without having to use the somewhat shabby facilities.

Touch of Blue
Looking inside other people's homes often provides you with new insights. I regularly get inspired during my work. In this house I fell in love with the colors on the wall. It gives such an atmospheric look, yet the space retains the light and peaceful basis.

Modern Mix
Behind the same main entrance I had to photograph two different apartments. At first I didn't noticed the similarities between both apartments since they are so different, but it was built the same way originally. With the photos in this blog I would like to show you the different styles, floor plans and functions for each room.

Luxury Feeling
For years I’ve been taking photos of interiors. As a real estate photographer that can be at a large variety of locations and all different interiors. Within my work you sometimes come across a diamond of an apartment. I want to give you a peek into this apartment in one of the most beloved streets of Stockholm.

To the Top
The day before I got the message, you have to photograph Torsplan 8 in Stockholm. You probably know the building said my colleague, it's one of the most famous architecture designed buildings in town. After a quick internet search I directly knew where I had to go. The building is high, outstanding and newly built.

Winter Wonderland
Together with a colleague, I drove to a fantastic house in Norrtälje a few weeks ago. The journey felt more like a holiday than a day of work. That day, for the first time since our emigration we had a fantastic amount of snow. Everything looked so fairy-tale like shrouded in the white landscape.

Royal Allure
The past week a few of our European royalties were in the spotlights and to stay in the royal style I want to share this apartment with you. At least I really got the feeling that I entered a palace. All the furniture would fit easily in such an interior. This apartment might not be in the hands of a royal family, but I think it has a lot of elements to create the place of your dreams.

Interior for Inspiration
Some of the interiors that I enter are a feast for the eye. This apartment on a very popular street in Stockholm was definitely one of them. After entering the apartment you immediately stepped into the open space where you could see almost the entire apartment at once. Let me show you the rest, because this interior is magazine worthy if you ask me.

New Job
Back in The Netherlands I was working as a real estate photographer, but due to my move to Stockholm I had to find a job again. Pretty fast it was clear that the best way to work as a photographer is to start your own company. So that’s what I did. After a long time of waiting to be registered I finally had my first assignments. Which is now already a couple of months ago, but I would love to show the interior and photos that I made.

Inspiration
Recently I got the inspiration to start a blog. It always was something I would love to do, but I never knew how to start or what to write about. After a conversation at one of my assignments I could not let go the idea anymore. So here we are at the very beginning of my own blog.

Playful Lines
When entering an apartment I never know what to expect. Before I go to the assignment, I always ask how big the apartment is so at least I know how much time I approximately need. This was definitely one of the apartments where I got surprised in a very positive way. The Swedes know how to prepare their interior for the real estate photos that is one thing I already learned.
