Behind the same main entrance I had to photograph two different apartments. At first I didn't noticed the similarities between both apartments since they are so different, but it was built the same way originally. With the photos in this blog I would like to show you the different styles, floor plans and functions for each room. I tried to make it as clear as possible and combined every time two photos of approximately the same angle. Let's say the first photo is apartment A and the second photo is always apartment B.
Achter dezelfde hoofdingang heb ik twee verschillende appartementen gefotografeerd. Aanvankelijk zag ik de overeenkomsten tussen beide appartementen niet omdat ze zo verschillend zijn, maar het was oorspronkelijk op dezelfde manier gebouwd. Met volgende foto's wil ik je de verschillende stijlen, plattegronden en functies voor elke kamer laten zien. Ik heb geprobeerd om het zo duidelijk mogelijk te maken en heb telkens twee foto's gecombineerd vanuit ongeveer dezelfde hoek. Laten we zeggen dat de eerste foto appartement A is en de tweede foto is altijd appartement B.
The fireplace is the main identifying mark which stayed exactly the same in both apartments. In apartment A it felt more as a hallway with a lot of storage space on the right and in apartment B they made a cosy corner with a chair. As you can see in the back both apartments have a room. The first photo shows the living room, while the second photo shows the master bedroom.
De open haard is het belangrijkste herkenningspunt dat in beide appartementen precies hetzelfde is gebleven. In appartement A voelde het meer als een gang met veel bergruimte aan de rechterkant en in appartement B hebben ze er een gezellig hoekje van gemaakt met een stoel. Zoals je achterin kunt zien hebben beide appartementen een kamer. De eerste foto toont de woonkamer, terwijl de tweede foto de slaapkamer toont.
As you can see here these two rooms has different functions. In apartment A they made the living room with a big table and a sofa in the corner. The other apartment created their bedroom in this place. The windows are exactly the same and even the white ceiling with an extra part of white on the wall is more or less the same.
Zoals je hier kunt zien hebben deze twee kamers verschillende functies. In appartement A hebben ze de woonkamer gemaakt met een grote tafel en een bank in de hoek. In het andere appartement hebben ze op deze plaats hun slaapkamer gemaakt. De ramen zijn precies hetzelfde en zelfs het witte plafond met een extra stukje wit op de muur is min of meer hetzelfde.
While selecting the photos for this blog I found these two which are made exactly at the same spot. Although they are completely different in what they show. The floor stayed the same and might be still the original one. To me it only looks like that they are a bit different in color.
Bij het selecteren van de foto's voor deze blog vond ik deze twee die precies op dezelfde plek zijn gemaakt. Hoewel ze totaal verschillend zijn in wat er te zien is. De vloer is hetzelfde gebleven en zou nog steeds de originele kunnen zijn. Voor mijn gevoel lijkt het er alleen op dat ze een beetje anders van kleur zijn.
These two photos shows really good the differences and give you already an extra sneak peak of the rest of the apartments. As you can see in apartment A we have in the foreground the living room, after that the middle room with the fireplace and thereafter the master bedroom. The differences in both apartments are clearly in that part of the floor plans. Apartment B has first the bedroom, after that comes the fireplace with the dining table and thereafter they made a smaller room where the sofa is. In both apartments the kitchen is in the left corner and the hallway has a different connection which makes that the first kitchen can only be entered via the hallway and in the second apartment it's a half open kitchen. But, that will be all more clear in the next pictures.
Deze twee foto's laten heel goed de verschillen zien en geven je alvast een extra voorproefje van de rest van de appartementen. Zoals je kunt zien hebben we in appartement A op de voorgrond de woonkamer, daarna de middelste kamer met de open haard en daarna de slaapkamer. De verschillen in beide appartementen zijn duidelijk in dat deel van de plattegronden. Appartement B heeft eerst de slaapkamer, daarna komt de open haard met de eettafel en daarna hebben ze een kleinere kamer gemaakt waar de bank staat. In beide appartementen is de keuken in de linkerhoek en de gang heeft een andere verbinding waardoor de eerste keuken alleen via de gang te betreden is en in het tweede appartement het een half open keuken is. Maar, dat zal allemaal duidelijker worden op de volgende foto's.
The second photo is made in front of the wall next to the fireplace and the first photo out of the living room 'behind' the wall and the fireplace. If you get what I mean. The wall with the glass at the top of apartment B should originally be adjacent to the wall on the left with the mirror. Which makes the room much bigger and turns it into a separate closed kitchen at the same time. Both apartments look very nice if you ask me, but apartment B comes really close to how I would love to have it. Although the rebuilding makes the living room quite small, the apartment looks bigger to me. The open kitchen creates a more spacious feeling.
De tweede foto is gemaakt voor de muur naast de open haard en de eerste foto uit de huiskamer 'achter' de muur en de open haard. Als je begrijpt wat ik bedoel. De muur met het glas bovenin bij appartement B zou oorspronkelijk moeten grenzen aan de muur links met de spiegel. Dat maakt de kamer veel groter en maakt er tegelijkertijd een aparte gesloten keuken van. Beide appartementen zien er erg mooi uit als je het mij vraagt, maar appartement B komt echt dicht in de buurt van hoe ik het graag zou willen hebben. Hoewel de verbouwing de woonkamer vrij klein maakt, oogt het appartement voor mij groter. De open keuken geeft een ruimtelijker gevoel.
In the middle of apartment B you have the dining table and thereafter they created a smaller room where the sofa with the television is. The first photo shows that the middle of apartment A does not have a very clear function and almost feels like a hallway which you only pass to enter the next room. Nevertheless they styled it with a chair to cosy up by the fireplace.
In het midden van appartement B staat de eettafel en daarachter hebben ze een kleinere kamer gemaakt waar de bank met televisie staat. Op de eerste foto is te zien dat het midden van appartement A niet echt een duidelijke functie heeft en bijna aanvoelt als een gang waar je alleen langs loopt om in de volgende kamer te komen. Toch hebben ze het leuk gestyled met een stoel om gezellig bij de open haard te zitten.
The first photo is made out of the hallway where the bathroom and front door are and the second photo out of the kitchen. This really shows what effect it has that they changed the wall in apartment B. On the second photo you can see where the wall normally ends. I really like the fact that in the second apartment the fireplace has become more a part of the livingroom.
De eerste foto is gemaakt van de gang waar de badkamer en voordeur zijn en de tweede foto vanuit de keuken. Dit laat echt zien wat voor effect het heeft dat ze de muur in appartement B hebben veranderd. Op de tweede foto kun je zien waar de muur normaal gesproken ophoudt. Ik vind het erg leuk dat in het tweede appartement de open haard meer een deel van de woonkamer is geworden.
Here you can see where in apartment A the bedroom is located while you can find the living room at this point in apartment B. I assume that the wall is changed because the bedroom is pretty big compared to the living room.
Hier kan je zien waar in appartement A de slaapkamer zich bevindt, terwijl de woonkamer zich op deze plek bevindt in appartement B. Ik neem aan dat de muur van plek is veranderd, aangezien de slaapkamer vrij groot is in vergelijking met de woonkamer.
These two photos are nice to compare. The photo is taken out of the exact same angle and shows pretty good the differences and the similarities. I love to see how both apartments got so different over the years. To me apartment B feels more spacious and much more lighter.
Deze twee foto's zijn leuk om te vergelijken. De foto's zijn vanuit precies dezelfde hoek genomen en laten goed de verschillen en de overeenkomsten zien. Ik vind het mooi om te zien hoe beide appartementen in de loop der jaren zo verschillend zijn geworden. Voor mij voelt appartement B ruimtelijker en veel lichter.
Kitchen time! In apartment A they kept the corner open with a cabinet and a chair. Apartment B used the space for a big oven and stove. Beside where to enter the kitchen there is not a big different here.
Keuken tijd! In appartement A hebben ze de hoek open gehouden met een kast en een stoel. Appartement B gebruikte de ruimte voor een grote oven en fornuis. Behalve waar je de keuken binnenkomt, is er geen groot verschil.
This might be the only photo I made on purpose since I remembered that I took this photo the first time. Although the idea for this blog came to my mind later, I thought it was a nice shot to take again. I can continue saying how much I like to see the differences in both apartments. Really everything from the floor plan to the style of the furniture and styling is different.
Dit is misschien wel de enige foto die ik expres heb gemaakt omdat ik me herinnerde dat ik deze foto ook de eerste keer had genomen. Hoewel het idee voor deze blog later pas ontstond, vond ik het toen al een leuke foto om nog eens te maken. Ik kan wel blijven zeggen hoe leuk ik het vind om de verschillen in beide appartementen te zien. Echt alles, van de plattegrond tot de stijl van de meubels en de styling is verschillend.
This is what I ment with the differences in the entrance of the kitchen. To give you a better idea, the doors of the balcony are behind me while making the photo. In apartment B the hallway is behind the wall with the cabinets, but they made the passage on the left side to the livingroom in stead of a small port to the front door and hallway.
Dit is wat ik bedoelde met de verschillen in de ingang van de keuken. Om je een beter idee te geven, de deuren van het balkon zijn achter me tijdens het maken van de foto. In appartement B is de gang achter de muur met de kasten, maar ze hebben de doorgang aan de linkerkant naar de woonkamer gemaakt in plaats van een kleine poort naar de voordeur en de gang.
Both are the perfect place for a sunny day on the balcony. I am so impressed by the styling in most of the interiors I have photographed. Everyone puts so much effort into it. As you can see here there are pillows, blankets, a magazine or cup of coffee with a croissant. The resident made the coffee before I came and kept it warm in a thermos flask. When I was ready to photograph the balcony he filled the cups so there was no chance that it looked unreal.
Beide zijn de perfecte plek voor een zonnige dag op het balkon. Ik ben zo onder de indruk van de styling in de meeste interieurs die ik heb gefotografeerd. Iedereen steekt er zoveel energie in. Zoals je hier kunt zien liggen er kussens, dekens, een tijdschrift of een kop koffie met een croissant. De bewoner zette de koffie voordat ik kwam en hield hem warm in een thermosfles. Toen ik klaar was om het balkon te fotograferen vulde hij de kopjes zodat er geen kans was dat het er onecht uitzag.
This part of the house wasn't showed yet. As you can see it's in both photos the front door and on the left side the door to the bathroom. Apartment A has on the right side next to the door the entrance to the kitchen and apartment B has a cabinet at that place. The rebuilding might even be the reason that apartment A with the original floor plan has a floor that looks original to me too. Apartment B has definitely not the original wooden floor anymore as far as I can see at this point.
Dit deel van het huis was nog niet te zien. Zoals je kunt zien is het op beide foto's de voordeur en aan de linkerkant de deur naar de badkamer. Appartement A heeft aan de rechterkant naast de deur de ingang naar de keuken en appartement B heeft op die plaats een kast. De verbouwing zou zelfs de reden kunnen zijn dat appartement A met de originele plattegrond een vloer heeft die er ook voor mij origineel uitziet. Appartement B heeft zeker niet meer de originele houten vloer voor zover ik dat nu kan zien.
It's not often in small apartments that you can find a washing machine. Most of the buildings has a special laundry room that can be used by all the residents in the building. Back in the Netherlands I haven't seen this once, while it's very normal in Sweden. We also have a public laundry room ourself too and I must say that I like it. In our previous apartment we always had the doors filled with racks of clothes that were drying. Now we have a special room and don't need to walk around our clothes in the living room all the time.

Het is niet vaak in kleine appartementen dat je een wasmachine ziet staan. De meeste gebouwen hebben een speciale wasruimte die gebruikt kan worden voor alle bewoners in het gebouw. In Nederland heb ik dat nog niet één keer gezien, terwijl het in Zweden heel normaal is. Wij hebben zelf ook een openbare wasruimte en ik moet zeggen dat het me goed bevalt. In ons vorige appartement hadden we de deuren altijd vol hangen met rekken met drogende kleren. Nu hebben we een speciale ruimte en hoeven we niet de hele tijd in de woonkamer om onze kleren heen te lopen.

Although we compared a lot of differences in both apartments, this stays the same for both. The main entrance in this beautiful yellow building. Now I am curious, would you go for apartment A or B?
Hoewel we veel verschillen in beide appartementen vergeleken, blijft dit voor beide hetzelfde. De hoofdingang in dit prachtige gele gebouw. Nu ben ik nieuwsgierig, zou je gaan voor appartement A of B?
